Don’t Cry For Me–Pakistan
Self-serving Bhutto was a crook not a heroine.

Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination was a terrible tragedy. And needless. It was not sudden, it was not a shock. Bhutto herself predicted and well she should have. If one’s past can be used to analyze the present, then she was less concerned for democracy in Pakistan than she was taking care of herself. Why was she exiled? Didn’t she fleece the country’s money?

The ProConPundit who knows very little about Pakistan, yet still more, apparently, than Mike Huckabee. Therefore, I consulted a good friend who is a Pakistani-American. I expressed my sympathy to him on the death of this Pakistani political figure. Mr. Patrick replied, "As a human, sure, I feel sorry for a person to die this way. But my only thing about this Pakistani People is when are they going to wake up and smell the roses? She was a PM for two terms and all she did is rob the country to the last penny and for that matter I don’t have any sympathy." Sound harsh? Mr. Patrick bitterly resents the indignities his people have suffered in Pakistan under all of the political regimes.

Pakistan, as has been widely said of late, is the most dangerous country in, and to, the world. Bhutto was no better than anyone else and her recent efforts and her death have done nothing to make things better. Another thing that hasn’t made things better is criticism of the Bush Administration for playing ball with Musharraf. Musharraf is no trip to the beach but the US needed an ally in that region and our efforts have helped keep Pakistan and ITS NUKES stable. Musharraf is a double dealer and not to be trusted, but he was all we had over there.

Bill Richardson and others who call for Musharraf’s immediate resignation are reckless. As bad as he is, he is keeping the world safe by keeping the nukes in tact–for now.
